Within BaltSe@nioR 2.0 project, an open space friendly both for students and seniors is created at the Faculty of Wood Technology of the Poznan University of Life Sciences. The concept has been developed by scientists from the Department of Furniture Design of Poznan University of Life Sciences (dr Beata Fabisiak and dr Robert Kłos) in cooperation with the designers from the interior design studio – Warsztat Wnętrz: Sylwia Nowak-Dylewicz and Katarzyna Nowak-Brychcy. Due to the fact that at the Poznan University of Life Sciences, the Third Age University of Life Sciences operates, it was decided that the newly created open space should be developed in accordance with the principles of universal design, and thus be accessible and comfortable for the widest possible group of users, and therefore not only students but also seniors.
One of the most essential elements that absolutely had to appear in this interior was, of course, the wood. Wood, which evokes very positive emotions both in younger and also slightly older users of the space, improves the overall mood and makes the designed space warmer and more friendly. In response to the requirements for interior design of public institutions, Paged BirchPly plywood class B-s1, d0 was used. It was hardwood, flame retardant plywood, 15 mm, quality class I / II, characterized by high strength and a wide spectrum of use. It was produced by Paged company, which values creative ideas and is open to all projects involving the use of this material. Combined with the colors of the upholstered furniture and properly selected plants, a space has been created that can be an oasis of peace and relaxation.
